SECUENCIA, REVISTA DE HISTORIA Y CIENCIAS SOCIALES 

 

CODE OF ETHICS 

 

  • Secuencia, Revista de Historia y Ciencias Sociales is published by the Instituto de Investigaciones Dr. José María Luis Mora. 

 

  • Secuencia journal publishes articles that are the result of original research based mainly on primary sources. 

 

  • Authors who submit articles to Secuencia must be supported by an academic institution. 

 

  • At the time of submitting an article, the author must attach a signed document stating that the work is original and unpublished and that it has not been simultaneously submitted to another journal for publication. 

 

  • Articles received in Secuencia undergo a two-stage review process. The journal’s editorial team undertakes an initial review of the article submitted to determine whether it meets the profile required for publication in Secuencia. Once this process has been completed, a double-blind peer review is carried out. This evaluation involves two reviewers who are leaders in their field. The reviewers anonymously decide to: publish with no changes, publish when minor corrections have been made, publish once a thorough review has been undertaken or reject the article. In the event of a discrepancy between the two results, the text will be sent to a third reviewer, whose decision will define when it is published or rejected.

 

  • The review process is completely anonymous. Reviewers do not have access to the author’s personal data or information on the  institution to which he or she is affiliated.

 

  • In the event that a reviewer manages to identify the authorship of the manuscript due to academic proximity, he or she must decline the editor’s invitation to review it.  

 

  • Reviewers of the articles in Secuencia are affiliated to prestigious national and international academic and scientific institutions, and are experts on the issues and problems addressed in the articles they review.

 

  • In no event will articles containing pages, sentences or paragraphs that have been plagiarized or self-plagiarized be accepted.

 

  • Plagiarism is strictly prohibited and texts identified as having been plagiarized will immediately be rejected.

 

  • The author will receive the full text of the anonymous reviews.

 

  • Articles published in Secuencia journal must comply with the rules of the Manual of Editorial and Typographical Criteria of the Instituto Mora (a citation system adapted from the APA style), so that references to the sources and data used in research are clearly provided and due credit is given.

 

  • Articles published in Secuencia must give due credit to the institutions that have funded the research on which the article is based.

 

  • Articles published in Secuencia must give due credit to the institutions that have provided the documentary holdings, data bases or any other necessary information on which the article is based.

 

  • It is the author’s responsibility to ensure that articles based on personal testimonials have the necessary permissions for the publication, public publication and dissemination thereof.

 

  • It is the author’s responsibility to ensure that articles containing photographic images, reproductions of works of art or maps have the necessary permissions for their publication, public communication and dissemination. The author is responsible for submitting written credit corresponding to the authors and the institutions to which they are attached.

 

  • It is the author’s responsibility to obtain written authorization for all the material included in his or her article that is protected by Copyright Law.

 

 

  • Researchers at the Instituto de Investigaciones Dr. José María Luis Mora who submit their research for publication in Secuencia must comply with the journal’s criteria for publishing articles.
  •  The number of articles published in Secuencia by authors affiliated to the Instituto de Investigaciones Dr. José María Luis Mora is limited in order to allow extensive participation by authors from other academic institutions. 

 

  • Once the paper has been approved for publication, the author must assign copyright to Secuencia so that his or her article and materials may be reproduced, published, edited, set, communicated and publicly transmitted in any medium and made available to the public through electronic or optical media or any other technology for exclusively scientific, cultural, dissemination and non-profit purposes.

 

  • The author (s) will retain their moral rights as stipulated by law. In this respect, the authors will be able to use the material from their article in other works or books published by themselves, provided Secuencia is cited as the original source of the texts.   

 

  • The functions of members of the Editorial Board of Secuencia journal include the following: act as ambassadors for the journal, promote and support it, actively work to attract the best authors and papers to the magazine, help the editorial team to appoint top-level reviewers, serve as reviewers if necessary and participate in editorial meetings.

 

  • Members of the Editorial Board of Secuencia journal may not submit articles for publication.

 

  • Members of the Editorial Board of Secuencia journal do not have access to authors’ personal data or information on the institutions to which they are attached.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 



The general guidelines for formulating the code of ethics of Secuencia journal are based on the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics.
